QST Direct

Terms

Engagement summary

These terms apply to the services of Julien Roy, operating as « Services TVQ Direct » / QST Direct (“we”). They summarize how we work. Your signed engagement letter sets out the services and prices that apply to you; it can’t give you less than these terms and our published prices promise.

Our services are for businesses only: sole proprietors, partnerships and corporations that have QST or GST/HST returns to prepare for their business activities. We don’t take on engagements for personal or household purposes.

In short: we prepare your QST and GST/HST returns from the records you give us. We file them only if you choose our filing option and authorize us. You pay your taxes directly to Revenu Québec or the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). We never hold your tax money, and we never ask for the passwords to your online accounts with Revenu Québec or the CRA.

General information on this website isn’t tax advice. We don’t promise any particular result from Revenu Québec or the CRA.

We work by email: bonjour@tvqdirect.ca. Our postal address is given in your engagement letter, or by email on request.

Services

Preparation. For each filing period in your engagement, we prepare your QST return and, if your package includes it, your GST/HST return, from your sales data and records. We reconcile each return with your sales report and send it to you with a clear file to review and approve.

Filing. We file a return for you only if you choose our “We file for you” add-on and Revenu Québec has accepted your procuration or the CRA has accepted your authorization, as applicable. Until then, you file the return yourself, and we don’t charge the add-on for that period.

What’s included. Each package’s scope, number of sales sources and included call are shown on our pricing page and in your written quote. Work outside that scope is an Extra, done only after you accept a written quote.

Records and receipts. For general-system QST and normal GST/HST, we work from the categorised records you send us: a sales report by platform and an expense list by category showing the tax paid. We review that list for reasonableness and flag anything unusual. We don’t inspect your receipts. Receipt review at your request, or building the list ourselves from unsorted receipts, is billed as Extras.

Your responsibilities

Accurate, complete information. You give us complete and accurate sales data, records and registration details, and you tell us promptly about changes to your business, such as a new sales source or a change in your registration or filing frequency.

Supporting documents. You keep your books, receipts and other supporting documents, and you remain responsible for the documents that support your input tax credits (GST/HST) and input tax refunds (QST). Revenu Québec and the CRA generally require you to keep them for six years after the end of the year they relate to, unless they tell you otherwise.

Approval. You review each return we prepare and approve it before it’s filed. You remain responsible for the content of your returns.

Taxes and due dates. You pay any tax owing directly to Revenu Québec or the CRA by the due date. We never collect, hold or forward tax payments. Send us your data by the date set in your engagement letter, so we have time to prepare your return before it’s due. If your data arrives late, we do our best, but we can’t promise the return will be ready on time.

Your online accounts. We never ask for the passwords or access codes to your online accounts with Revenu Québec or the CRA. Please don’t send them to us.

Fees and payment

Prices. Our current prices, and what each one includes, are on our pricing page and in your written quote. Package prices are per quarter; monthly or annual filers pay per return; onboarding is charged once per tax account (QST or GST/HST); the filing add-on is charged per return filed; Extras are billed by the hour, only after you accept a written quote.

All prices are in Canadian dollars, plus applicable taxes. We invoice in Canadian dollars; card payment is accepted from any currency, and we absorb card fees. If a sales tax applies to our own fees, it’s shown on your quote before you accept it.

Payment. Your engagement letter sets out when we invoice and when payment is due.

Price promise. Your prices won’t go up for your first 4 quarters with us, counting from the first quarter we prepare for you, or for your first 12 months if you file monthly or annually. The promise covers every price in your written quote: your package or per-return price, any add-on and our hourly rate. After that, we’ll tell you in writing at least 30 days before any price increase takes effect, and an increase never applies to a filing period that has already started. The promise binds us, not you: you can cancel at no charge at any time before your next filing period starts. Your onboarding fee is refunded in full if you cancel before we start work on your file; once work has started, it isn’t refundable.

Separately, every price we publish stays available for at least 90 days after we last publish it.

Cancellation

You can cancel at no charge at any time before your next filing period starts. Just email us at bonjour@tvqdirect.ca.

Your onboarding fee is refunded in full if you cancel before we start work on your file; once work has started, it isn’t refundable. Work starts on the day we first receive your sales data or registration details after you sign the engagement letter.

If you cancel during a filing period that has already started, you pay for the work done up to then, and we refund any amount you paid in advance beyond that.

If you chose our filing option, you can revoke your procuration (Revenu Québec) or authorization (CRA); we stop filing for you as soon as your cancellation takes effect. When our engagement ends, we return your documents to you or, on your instructions, send them to the person you choose.

Our errors, penalties and interest

We don’t bill for fixing our own errors.

Amended returns you ask for, including to correct information you gave us, are billed as Extras.

Penalties and interest charged by Revenu Québec or the CRA are assessed in your name, and you pay them to the tax authority. If they result from our own error, we redo the work at no charge and repay those penalties and interest, with no amount cap.

Responsibility for our work

We are responsible for the quality of our own work. We aren’t responsible for losses caused by inaccurate or incomplete information you gave us, or by a delay in sending us your data.

Our services are offered to businesses only. If a law that protects consumers nonetheless applies to you, nothing in these terms limits the rights it gives you.

Governing law and courts

These terms and your engagement letter are governed by the laws of Québec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.

Any dispute goes before the competent courts of Québec.

If a law that protects consumers nonetheless applies to you, nothing in these terms limits your right to go to court or requires you to use arbitration.

Language

These terms, our quotes and your engagement letter are drawn up in French. An English version is also available, at no charge.

If you’re in Québec, we give you the French version first. You can then choose to be bound by the English version, but only if you expressly ask for it after we have given you the French version.

If you’re outside Québec, you can expressly choose English from the start.

If the two versions differ, the version you chose to be bound by governs; if you made no choice, the French version governs.

Changes to these terms

We can change these terms, but only as to how we deliver our services, our procedures and, after your price promise period, our prices. A change never applies to a filing period that has already started.

Before a change that affects you takes effect, we email you a written notice at least 30 days ahead. The notice sets out the new clause, the clause it replaces and the date the change takes effect. You can refuse the change and cancel your engagement at no cost or penalty by telling us no later than 30 days after the change takes effect.

The current version and its date are always on this page.

Independence

QST Direct is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting on behalf of Revenu Québec or the Canada Revenue Agency. We file a return only if you choose our filing option and authorize us.
